I have a problem. Initially, windows was shutting off instaneously. A MS
report said that there was a driver interferring with windows. It got so bad,
I could not even boot up, without it shutting off. In safe mode I turn off
all of my start up files, rebooted to normal mode, then restored the computer
to 6 weeks earlier. That seemed to fix the problem, but then...IE will go to
home page, but when I try to go to another page it times out. If I reboot, I
can usually do one or two pages, then I have to reboot. I did a registry
clean and IE worked for 15 minutes, then reverted back to timing out.

Another important thing is that I can receved and send e-mail via Outllook

Any suggestions. My problem, I may not be able to get back to this page to
read any suggestions. I guess I will go to the library and try to log on. I
thought of throwing it out the window, but thought better of it.

If the browser can't find pages but your email works, then you have a
firewall problem.

Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

I use Zone Alarm Security Suite and have used it for 4 years. Can you tell me
what I might look for with my firewall?

Disable it temporarily, enable the XP firewall.

See if the problem clears.
