Major computer problems

I am having several issues with my computer. To begin with, wheneve
I reboot, it starts up and then begins beeping repeatedly- I have t
keep hitting keys over and over again and it finally stops an
finishes rebooting. However, once I try to open anything on m
desktop, it opens the control panel instead. To open Interne
Explorer, I have to go to the start menu and and open from there.
Then, once I have Explorer open, I am unable to scroll down the we
page- it keeps taking me back to the top of the page. I have t
manually delete the http address and type in a new one, and the
things work fine. After that, I have been able to close explorer an
reopen without a problem. But yesterday, it stopped going int
standby mode, and every time I try to open the internet, I have th
same problem and have to go through all of the above steps again.
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong, and more importantly, how t
fix it? This is so bizarre and I don't know what happened. Thank yo
so much for any advice or help you can give me

The beeps will mean something. Were you provided with a manual or
guide with the computer? What is the make and model?

Please check Event Viewer for Warning / Error Reports in the System and
Application logs for when the error occurs and post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, and
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&sd=tech

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you should
double click for further information. You can copy using copy and paste.
Often the link will, however, say there is no further information.
http://go.microsoft.com/fw.link/events.asp
(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click
on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now
start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This
will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links
into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event
Viewer.

Hope this helps.

Continuous beeping can signal overrunning the type-in buffer. Maybe you
have a stuck keyboard key or the keyboard is pushed back against
something that is pushing a key. If neither of those provides relieve,
buy/borrow a cheap keyboard to substitute.

First rule of dealing with PC's, is not to get angry or frustrated.
Whenever a PC Beeps it means that something is wrong. When that
happens don't indiscrimately start pushing keys. Stop and investigate
what is going on. These symptoms sound like Malware. Erratic type
of behavior is a classic indictor you've picked up "Baddies".

The beeping pattern is an error message to help you troubleshoot the problem.

if your computer beeps more than once, then it's the
BIOS beep code, each beep stands for a problem within the
motherboard of your computer. if you don't get a message
from the video card within the POST, then the BIOS will
give you a beeping noise to indicate the problem.
I will have to print out another sheet on this.
