Hello - I know very little about the windows xp system so I hope I can
understand answers. When I turn on the computer it will roll the black,
Windows loading screen and then come up to a blue screen with the logo in the
center. It never goes any further. No buttons work so I have no clue what
to do to make it move on. Please help as my college school work in on this
computer.
Thanks so much!!!

see if you can boot up in safe mode

hit F8 right after the bios message

if you can get to safe mode there are a few things you can try:

run chkdsk /f to correct any possible file system errors

also try running msconfig and take all apps out of start up...
if you system boots up ok...
all you prob. need in startup would be your firewall and virus checker.

if all else fails...but you can get to safe mode...
you can try a system restore

Hello Windssong I work over at staples electronics and I am here on my lunch
looking into this exact problem because I have had 2 customers in the last
hour call my store with the exact same problem and another customer that walk
in describing the same thing I am not sure if its a new security issue that
is out there but I am keeping my eye on this one so if I find anything out I
will be sure to post it here.

Hello Philo - When I try safe mode it goes to the same blue screen with
bigger letters and emblem and doesn't go any further. Thank you for your
help.

if you cannot even get to safe mode you will need to boot with your XP cd
and enter the recovery console

from there, issue the command chkdsk /r

if there are file sytem errors, it will hopefully repair them.

if that does not work...
then boot from the XP cd and perform a repair installation

for more info about the recovery console or repair installation...
just do a google search...
it's been well covered and there is plenty of info out there

well there is one thing in common of all my customers today all 3 of my them
say they use AOL as there service provider so maybe they are to blam for this
one. I am still looking into it I will be back with more updates.

Sry Windssong I wasn't able to come up with a magical fix that involves
anything less then doing a windows repair install.

Stry Wind I wasn't able to find any easy quick fixes to solve this problem
only thing that I found that works is a windows repair install.

Thanks Philo - I will try to find the cd that goes with that computer and
hope it works.

Hey guys, this just happened to me also. Bummer! Anybody with any ideas, let
me know.

Inserting the XP CD - nothing happens, still stick on the blue screen.

Wow.

Where is this particular Staples located? I certainly want to avoid
that one if this is an example of how their employees communicate with
customers.
