mails deleted automatically from Deleted items folder after reading

I am using Microsoft Outlook 2000. When I delete a message
it goes to deleted items folder. When I read and close a
message from Deleted items folder it gets deleted
automatically immediately after closing it. I could not
keep that messages in Deleted items folder. Can any one
help ?

Check your view settings on that folder to make sure you aren't filtering
anything....
