Deleted E-mails automatically delete

I just upgraded to Outlook 2007; if I deletes an email while it is
"opened" it goes to the "deleted Items" folder--I can see the number change
and then it it immediately deleted from that folder. The message disappears
rather than staying in the deleted items folder.

Why does the email disappear when it is deleted instead of staying in the
deleted
items folder?

Outlook doesn't do that by itself.
Which mail account type are you using?
Does the folder size of the Deleted Items folder also indicate that it is
empty?

Usine POP/SMTP type.

Right clicking on Deleted Items folder shows the folder size to be 11906kb.

I have 3 unread emails in the Deleted items box--when I open one to look at
it then go to the Inbox it automatically deletes the one I opened.

Thanks
Ken

Are you filtering your view? In the Deleted Items folder, click on View >
Current View. Messages is what should be checked.

Thank You--that fixed it--
"Unread Messages in This folder" is what was checked.
Thanks
