Ask your email provider or Internet Service Provider what the settings
should be. They are different for every provider.

Hello Ann. Were you able to correct the SMPT error. I am having the same
problem when trying to e-mail photos using Lexmark. Can't figure out how to
change the SMPT port. Appreciate any help. Thanks. W C

If you will post your exact error message, we can provide you with
custom advice.

Thank You. This is the message exactly as it appears on the error notice:
Subject 'Emailing P1010012-Copy,Account: 'SMPT',Server
'SMPT'Protocol:SMTP,Port:25,Secure (SSL): No,Socket error 11001,Error Number
8X800CCCOD.
Any help you can provide in resolving this error would be greatly
appreciated. Again. Thanks.

Should be SMTP above. Not as you have it.
BobF.

Instead of "SMTP", you need to enter the actual server name that your email
provider uses.
Your provider should have a help page on their website which lists the
server names.

Both SMPT and SMTP are invalid server names. What happens when you
use them depends on what your internet provider does with invalid names.
SMTP is a valid protocol, though. The server names you should use depend
on who your email provider is (often the same as your internet provider).

Ask your email provider for their instructions for how to set up to use
their
email servers. If they haven't written instructions for Windows Mail yet,
their instructions for Outlook Express should also work under Windows
Mail as long as they don't call for the HTTP protocol. The instructions are
probably somewhere on their web site. Or, you could tell us who your
email provider is and see if anyone here already knows where to find the
instructions.

Thanks for including the error message. It makes our troubleshooting
effort much more productive.

You do not have the correct name of the outgoing mail server. Either
consult your provider's website for that information, or tell us who your
mail provider is, and we can look it up for you.

In the future, please quote the error message verbatim by right-clicking
on it, copy, then paste it into a reply here. Subtle clues can get lost when
you paraphrase the error message.

Believe it or not, I have typed the error notice exactly as it appears in the
pop ups. I also had issues withthe SMTP message. How can this be corrected?
Thanks. W C

Looks like you need to ask your email provider (who is probably also your
internet provider) for their instructions on how to set up to use their mail
servers, which should include the correct server names. If they haven't
written instructions for Windows Mail yet, their instructions for Outlook
Express should also work under Windows Mail as long as they don't call
for using the HTTP protocol. The instructions are probably somewhere on
their web site. Or, you could tell us who your email provider is and see if
anyone here already knows where to find the instructions.

You can correct it be doing what I suggested previously:
either give us the name of your mail provider, or else
go to their website and obtain the correct name for their
outgoing (SMTP) mail server.
