For example, in Vista, you have a mail icon in the control panel. Now, when I
go in the control panel in XP Pro, I don't see that mail icon. That's what I
mean. I'm trying to configure the exchange server at the place where I work,
using their exchange server info.

Do you have to install Outlook 2000/2002/2003 in order to have the mail icon
in the control panel?

Did you installed Office Suite to get this in your Control panel?
This only will be there if you installed Outloook which is different from
Outlook Express installed with IE.

Install office and the SP pack and you will get the Mail icon in the CPL.

Please do not confuse the Vista Windows Mail with the Mail icon.
Windows Mail is the Vista "revised" version of Outlook Express. Mail
icon in XP is part of the Office Outlook system.
