I installed windows xp home edition over window xp pro
evaluation copy. How do I restore my old files that were
backed up during the win xp home installation.

It depends on how and where you backed up the files. Since you can't install
XP Home over XP Pro of any variety, you had to clean install Home. If you
deleted the Pro partition during setup and that was where the backup files
were located, I am afraid they are gone. If you give us more detail on the
procedure you took to install XP Home, it would be a big help.

The traditional method is just moving files back from one place to the
other. How exactly did you backup your files before installing Windows XP
Home Edition?
