lost printer and can't add printer.

I am using Windows XP Professional. Yesterday morning
was the last time I printed to my Lexmark Z52 printer.
Today, January 4, my printer is no longer loaded on my
computer and I am unable to add a printer (I get
an "Operation could not be completed" message). Also,
when I try to load the printer software from the disc I
do not get a LPT1 port option, just a file option during
the 'Select your port from the list below and click
Next.' window.

Any ideas as to how to add a printer.
