lost my roadrunner connection

The roadrunner guy came out and installed a new modem but then could
not get my computer connected again. He calls headquarters and yes,
they see the modem, looks ok. Sorry he says, looks like your Local
area connection can send but not receive. Yes. the status box shows
24 packets sent, zero received. I hook up my daughter's laptop - it
works fine -in fact that is how I am getting on right now. but mine
does not connect. I think that guy did something wrong and was too
dull to un-do it! Does anyone have any ideas? I have Win2000 with
two ethernet connections, the K7VTA3 MB and a PCI card, both show
Device working properly.

If your other laptop works, it more than likely is not the roadrunner
connection, but the config of the other computer. So it may be prudent to
not call other people dull.

Hello,

Verify if IP addresses from your ISP are correctly typed under your LAN
properties (ip, default gateway, dns), verify if your ISP provide your IP
through DHCP, if that's the case you might remove any typed IP addresses and
DNS. If not, you might want to check in services.msc if network connection
services is running or dhcp or dns services are up and running and any other
network related service is running, just to start checking if you may find a
solution there. Post back with questions/results.
