lost my cd rom drive and burner

My computer got several viruses recently and now my cd rom drive and burner
drives are missing! Is there any way of getting them back?????
Please help.
 
what operating system do you have and what type of drives?
when ur computer boots up are they listed as installed?
 
i'm running xp professional. please bare with me, i'm not real comp.
literate so i don't know if i'm giving you the info you need but i have cd
-rw drive and a regular cd drive. i don't know if they are listed when i
boot up or not and im not at home to look yet. will that info be on the
screen as it's booting up?
