Lost HD Drive:D in Explorer?

Here's something I found with a Google Groups search:

"This can happen when you have an NTFS partition and you reinstall
Windows cleanly.
To get your old data off "D:" drive:
Open My Computer, Right Click "D" drive, Security (or
Properties/Security tab), {Advanced}, [Owner], "Take Ownership" of the
object. Make sure your group is listed, check [X] "Replace owner on
subcontainers and objects", and click OK. This process may take a few
minutes.
Note: any previously explicit ownership settings for this
drive will be reset. "
