Lost hard drives after XP reinstall

I had to reinstall XP from the installation disk last weekend. The reinstall
went ok and I reapplied SP2. But, I have two extra hard drives with a lot of
video files on them. Now those drives don't show in the explorer but are
there when I look at the disk manager. They are showing as the correct size
and it reports they are working correctly. Any help is appreciated.

Open a command prompt in the directory where you extracted the files. Run
partinfw using this command line: C:\ where you extracted Partinfo.zip\
partinfw > partinfo.txt (the MBR info will be in this txt file you just made)
Copy and paste the contents of partinfo.txt to your reply.

If the MBR has in effect been zeroed out, if your up to it, you might try
the TestDisk app or Photorec app. both are included in the TD 6.5 Win XP zip..

These apps have been data savers for me..

Your welcome, Thanks..

What's with the FAT16, are you multi-booting two OS's..?
Looks like your 2 drives HD2 & HD3 have pretty much zeroed out on you..
Might use the TestDisk app to repair or write a new MBR for both drives,
your call though..

(http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download) Your call..
Get the zip, extract the files to C:\testdisk-6.5 go to C:\testdisk-6.5\win
to find the "testdisk win" file icon and click on it, this opens a dos box,
create a log, enter, "important" select the right disk, proceed, enter,
select Intel, enter, Analyse, enter, *primary, enter, should see green
entry(s), enter, write the MBR, reboot..

The above is basically what you need to do, you may receive a warning if a
problem occurs.. I never got one, always stay with the *primary selection and
you should be fine, just make sure you choose the right disk..
Read all the info on the testdisk site too.. See this link for an older
tutorial if you need to..
http://www.geocities.com/thestarman3/testdisk.html (this is for an older 4.4
ver, don't let it confuse you, it's just to give you a basic idea of what
you'll see..)
Post your results..
Cheers

Thanks again. The FAT16 is probably my ZIP disk. I will try the testdisk
program. I'll let you know how it comes out.
