lost digital images

HELP!!! I recently uploaded numerous digital photos (darn
good ones too) through my compact flash card reader and
edited them with Photoshop Elements 2.0 New names were
given to the files and they were saved as usual.
Thinking everything was OK because the images were now on
my hard drive, I erased them from the completely compact
flash card so that I could go out and shoot again. Long
story short: I cannot locate these photos and all of the
usual search efforts have failed. Is ther any way to
resurrect these photos from either my computer or my CF
cards???

If you renamed the files and saved them,
it seems like they have to be on your hard
drive. Did you not choose a folder to save
them in? I wonder if you opened them from
the memory card and resaved them to the
memory card? Check your temp folders
maybe they'll show up in there.

What format were they saved in? Did you
search for the extension with a wild card
so you could find all files of that type?

Example *.jpg, *.png, *.bmp, *.psd.

If you cannot find the pictures, there are
software programs that claim to retrieve
lost / deleted files,

Here's one example:

If you simply used the "save" option under the "file"
tab, the edited file would have been saved back to the
same media that you loaded it from in the first place.
Thus it would have replaced your original photo. You
should have used the "save as" command and specified a
folder on your hard drive to save to.

However there are utilities that can recover deleted
photos from you flash card. Do a Google search
for "recover digital photos"

I was able to recover all the photos using a software
program called "Digital Picture Recovery" that I had
purchased from:

http://www.winutils.net

They have a free demo which will recover a thumbnail of
the file which shows it can be recovered. To actually
recover the file you'll have to buy the full functioned
version for $27. This might seem a little costly, but if
your lost pictures are priceless the cost will seem
insignificant.

I guess you would be doomed if your pictures were
only worth $26.

Sorry....I just couldn't resist.
