lost data..i am scared..need recovery

Hi all...I am going to see if someone can help me before I
pay Microsoft $ to get their help. I need a system
recovery and am not able to figure it out. I don't know
alot about computers, but have pointed and clicked for
years and may be able to get through this with a
knowledgeable assistance. Can some help ?...
