Lost D drive after reformat

Hi. Setup is: hard disk 1 (C)..hard disk 2 (D).. and 2 cd roms.

Hard disk one with windows xp pro.

Hard disk 2 used for storage.

both were formatted ntfs and working.

Moved everything I wanted to save to drive D

Reformatted and installed xp pro on drive C

After installation disk 2 is not listed in my computer. It lists drive
C(hard drive) D(cd rom) E(cd rom).The second hard drive shows up in disk
management as healthy and active.

Why was hard drive #2 not added to my computer after reformat?
