lost AOL

I am running windows xp with internet explorer 6, using
Roadrunner internet service. I have an aol instant
messenger account. I have been unable to log into the
AIM account for the past week or so-message is "AIM
cannot be reached." I cannotget on to AOL's website--
tried going through YAHOO and Google searches and
couldn't open aol pages--very strange----The roadrunner
service folks tell me its a problem in my machine, but I
have NO idea what the problem is. Any suggestions?

Not really related to IE, perhaps AOL tech support would be a better option.
