lost access to hard drive after defrag

I am running Win XP Prof and performed a defrag of my
160GB Slave Drive. After defragging I have lost access to
the drive. Initial error message indicated that parameter
was missing and subsequent messages indicate drive is not
recognized as being formatted.

How do I restore access to drive?

SP 1 is mostly cumulative but not complete.
Also SP1 has been out a year.
If you have SP1 and no other updates, your computer is very insecure:

It is highly unlikely that the defragmenter caused your slave drive to
become corrupt. It is more likely that a 3rd party program/driver caused a
problem.

Is the data on the drive important? If so, you may want to send it off to a
data recovery company to see what they can get off of the drive. If the
data is not important, try re-formatting the drive.
