Cannot Defrag Drive C:

When I try to analyze or defrag my hard drive I get the message "Disk
Defragmenter has detected theat Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume c:
Please run chkdsk /f"

When I try to run chkdsk I get an error message saying it can't lock the
drive and would I like to run it next time I boot up. I have tried answering
both yes and no but it makes no difference, I still cannont defrag the drive.

Dow anyone have any suggestions?

Have you rebooted it?
Go to scheduled tasks in Control Panel and see if it is there. I think it's
OK to delete.

If you have no luck, then try booting into safe mode.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, there was no scheduled task and it didn't
make any difference booting in safe mode.
