loss of audio

I recently lost all audio on my laptop after automatically downloading
updates from the Microsoft update website. To try and solve this I followed
the instructions on my laptop's troubleshooter and uninstalled the Microsoft
WinMM WDM Audio Compatibility Driver. Unfortunately when it came to
reinstalling it, the driver wasn't listed where it was supposed to be.

Basically I now need to download this driver from somewhere so I can
reinstall it and hopefully get my sound back. Does anyone know where I can
find the above mentioned driver? I have searched the Windows Update site and
everywhere else I could think of and have come up blank. I'm beginning to
feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall with this and have no idea
where else to try so any help that anyone can give me would be very much
appreciated!

FYI the version of the driver I am looking for is 5.1.2535.0

Thanks very much.

it is highly likely that there is a
website dedicated to your laptop
by the manufacturer.

there you should find the drivers
for your model.

in addition, you may want to review
the faq's and see if they have
recognized the issue you are
experiencing as systemic and
have provided a resolution..
