No Sound - Kernel Wave - Help a Cute Girl!

Hey! I have so many issues today. I keep losing sound. This Dell computer
has integrated audio. Device manager shows yellow ! and the device error
states: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver
may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39). We performed the tasks below to fix.
It works for a while then comes back. My husband then just went to Best Buy
and bought a new sound card and put in. Today we lost sound again. Same
issue.

Is there a conflict with the intergrated audio. How can I stop XP from keep
reinstalling the drivers after we disable or uninstall.

I cannot stop this problem. Please help...

Thanks for your time!

On the System Properties panel, Advanced tab, Environment Variables button,
under the User variables click New and create a variable named
devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices with the value of 1.
Open the Device Manager and select Show hidden devices from the View menu.
Under the Sound, video and game controllers group, find your sound card(s)
and disable it/them (don’t need to uninstall).
Then uninstall the following devices:
Microsoft Kernel Audio Splitter
Microsoft Kernel System Audio Device
Microsoft Kernel Wave Audio Mixer
Microsoft WINMM WDM Audio Compatibility Driver
Select Scan for hardware changes from the Action menu. Now the system should
redetect and reinstall the deleted devices automatically. You may get non
signed driver warnings, click continue. Enable the devices you disabled in
step 4. You may need to restart the computer. The problem should be
disappeared, you should be able to play sounds.

I'm not sure who the OP is here, but, look on the back or bottom of the PC
for the Dell Service Tag number.

Go to the Dell support site, enter the Service tag, and you'll get be shown
all the original drivers for the system. Download any core drivers and
sound drivers, and install them.

If the problem persists, it may be related to hardware, which is an issue
for Dell support.

Then look in the BIOS setup. You should be able to disable the onboard
audio entirely there.

You can often only get to BIOS from a power-on startup, not a warm boot;
turn the thing right off, back on, watch the screen for which key press gets
you into Setup. You may not get it the first time, in which case just
power off, back on, and try again.

The key for BIOS on a Dell if F2. Start pressing it the second you see the
DELL logo on the screen, and you should get in without incident. Look for a
Hardware tab, or Onboard Devices tab.
