please tell me why (i am this standalone's administrator and power user),
after i had opened a limited account to a limited user of this system (not
LANNED, etc.), i had no wallpaper at my own administrator account. it
disappeared, giving me only a gray desktop without a picture.

again and again, i attempted to assign a picture in My Pictures to the
desktop by R-clicking on it and telling the program to select it as a
background (wallpaper).

what am i doing wrong?

thank you, karen

I don't know what you are doing wrong since I can't see your computer.
It sounds like you've set a Group Policy and included yourself in it by
mistake. See the following MS Knowledge Base article. although it
specifies Win2k, it is applicable also to XP:

workgroup setting in Windows 2000 -
