I had a .jpg photograph as my wallpaper. Today I went to change the
wallpaper to a different photograph, and windows won't let me now select any
photograph as wallpaper, other than the wallpaper images that came with
windows xp.

Any ideas as to why? And how I can fix this so I can use photographs as my
wallpaper again?

Correction. For some reason my computer will only let me use pictures that
are in .bmp format or the wallpaper pictures that came with windows xp, as
wallpaper.

For some reason it won't let me use .jpg or .jpeg formats.

Any ideas as to why?

Hi Rusty
Try typing these commands into the Start | Run box:

regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll

regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll

Open up the Display Properties dialog and see if this has fixed it
(sometimes you may have to reboot before you see any change). If it's
still not working after a reboot, go back to Start | Run and type this
command:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes :)

Now it won't even let me use .bmp files as my wallpaper. I did the
regsvr32 /i shell32.dll and that change a thing.

My temporary files are deleted automatically everytime I shut down Internet
Explorer.

Any suggestions?

from blue to white, and now my .bmp file i selected as wallpaper is showing

I shut off my computer for a bit. And when I turned it back on my wallpaper
was gone. All I had was a white background. In order to make the .bmp
wallpaper show up, I had to once again, change the color of the background.

There's somethin' really screwed up somewhere.
