Hello
In our server Hp ML350 running windows 2000 server if you look at the cpu usage in the task manager it looks like the server has got two processor but that's not the case. Can anybody tell me what causes this and how I can fix this.

if you have a new p4 with hyperthreading it will appear as two processors in
task manager... this is normal and good. if you don't want the extra
computing power you can turn it off in bios.

My understanding from other postings is that "certain multi-processor
aware apps such as Photoshop will run better with it enabled. Other
apps will either not see any speed increase or will run slower."

I wonder if there is a list of such applications UNDER WINDOWS 2000. I
know that WXP supports HyperThreading better than W2K, but perhaps
there is an application list somwhere that can show which one benefits
from HT under W2K. This way I can decide if the speed increase for one
(or more) application is worth the speed decrease in the others. For
example, I wouldn't mind at all giving up a little performance in my
web browser (or word processor) for extra power in my NeroVision
express video editing software.
if you don't want the extra computing power you can turn it off in bios.

Is there anybody who DOESN'T want extra computing power?

Sam
