Long Delay in Accessing Secondary HD ??

K

Katmandu

Whenever I attempt to access/save items on my Secondary Harddrive, there is
a LONG Delay of approximately 45-50 seconds.

Once the Secondary Harddrive is accessed, the access Speed is just fine.

It seems as though the Secondary Harddrive is "snoozing" and taking a LONG
time to "wake" up.

What could be causing this LONG Delay and what can I do about it ??

Thank you!

Oh, BTW, my Primary HD is a Maxtor 80G 7200RPM and the Secondary is a 40G
Western Digital 7200RPM.

A few months back, the Secondary Harddrive never went into a "Sleep" mode
and I could access it quite fast.

Have you looked at your power management settings to see if hard drives are
set to sleep after xx minutes? (right click Desktop, choose Properties, go
to the Screensaver tab and click "Power" *or* open "Power Options" in
Control Panel.)

Yea, actually I have it set at 15minutes.

I assumed once my Primary Drive was awake, that the Secondary was as well.
I guess that's NOT the case then huh ??

I'll turn the Sleep mode Off and see what happens.....

BTW, love your screen name!! That is a VERY interesting combination !
