I currently have Windows XP home edition and am thinking of upgading to Professional. One question... Do logons apear in the same way on pro. I like the ability to switch between users while still staying loged onto that user.

Yes. It's the same.

Yes, they do. As long as you have Fast User Switching Enabled. I think
it's enabled by default.

The answer is yes but why switch the only difference
between XP Home and XP Pro is you can connecto to a
doamain controller with Pro so if you are not connecting
it to a large network it is not needed

It's not the only difference. Home doesn't have HTTP, FTP, SMTP, etc.
servers. You can't use Remote Assistance (to log into another computer) or
Remote Desktop with Home, etc. I'm sure there are a few other additions, as
well. But, it's true, if you don't need any of these features there's no
need to upgrade.

Although it's true that there are not many differences between XP
Professional and Home, and most Home users don't need
Professional, it is *not* true that the only difference is that
Professional lets you connect to to a domain controller.

Also note that Professional allows ten concurrent network
connections, and Home only five.
