Logon Virus?

When I turn on my machine, I get the windows XP loading
screen, followed by a black screen. A windows logon error
flashes very rapidly, the machine recycles to a memory
scan. I suspect I have some sort of virus. Anyone know
how to get my machine booted up to a point that I can fix
this problem?
 
Boot the computer in Safe Mode. Press the F8 key between the BIOS POST screen and XP actually starting to load.
