logon logoff problem

the welcome screen logon setting is on as well as the fast
user switching but for some reason the windows 2000
looking logon prompt is what comes up when the welcome
screen would usually be there. I know it is not a
settings problem and i think that a file has been deleted
because that is the only possibility left. does any body
know how to fix this problem my personal email is
(e-mail address removed)

You don't have to have "Fast User Switching" in order to
have the Welcome screen but i wonder if the service is
used by each.
Logon and go to Control Panel, Performance and
Maintenance, Administravite Tools, Services.
Look for a service named "Fast User Switching
compatibility". It should be set to either manual or
automatic.
If it already is, then this isn't your problem.

Do you have SP1a? Are you fully updated?
Have you ever run CHKDSK /R?
