For the past week or so whenever I switch on the system freezes on the blue
screen. After about 15 minutes it shows the classic logon scrren for a few
seconds saying I have the wrong password, it then goes to the normal logon
scrren shwoing all the users, where i can then sign on without problems. Any
idea how to prevent this 15 minute freeze?

Hi Courseal,

This happens if the auto-logon is configured with incorrect password set.
See if clearing the automatic logon option helps.

Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type CONTROL
USERPASSWORDS2, and then click OK. In the dialog box that appears, enable
Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer check box,
and then click OK.

To temporarily disable auto-logon at startup, press and hold the SHIFT key
for sometime, until the Welcome Screen is shown.
