logon crash

Hi m8s,
I have a problem laptop with XP Home edition (SP2). Somedays ago after a
normal reboot the system didn't come up again. The first windows XP loading
just finished and the logon screen didn't appear. The sysyem simply stopped
with a mouse cursor on the middle of the screen! I tried to recover the
windows using XP original CD but it freezes in the same stage just before
logon screen. Even the ctrl-alt-del combination doesn't work.

A new clean windows XP in now installed on the same system (another
partition of cource) ,although I have access to all my files but in previous
OS I had some high price engineering softwares (Say 35,000 USD)installed
which can not be used any more.
Would you help me to recover the old OS please?

If the software is that valuable then consider employing a specialist
recovery firm. HST with software of that calibre you should be able to expect
techsupport from the vendor. Have you called them?

Otherwise, Try and see if it will start in Safe Mode. (F8 whilst booting)
Disconnect any unneeded psripherals, esp. USB devices.
Run the Recovery Console from the Windows CD, and do FIXBOOT and FIXMBR.
