Logo Test Workaround Doesn't Work!

Doug V

In my desperate attempts to reinstall IE 6 SP1 on Windows
XP, I followed the instructions in Knowledge Base article
828031.

The workaround indicates that you should uninstall Hotfix
KC823559, reboot, and then restart the IE 6 SP1 installation.

I followed this advice and still got the error that the
software does not pass Windows XP logo testing.

Does anyone have a workaround for the workaround?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Doug,

It's a common issue. Few more things you can try:

1. You Cannot Install Some Updates or Programs: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=822798
2. Point 8 & 9 here: http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBN/tip6500/rh6571.htm
3. If this does not help, perform a repair installation of Windows XP. However, this will remove all the hotfixes added since Windows was last installed. You may visit www.michaelstevenstech.com for the repair install guide.
