logitech dual action gamepad

i purchased this gamepad last week specifically for need
for speed underground, now after a week, the calibration
on the analog sticks is knackered.
I have tried uninstalling the controller then restart my
pc, followed by re-installing the gamepad, this worked
for about all of 5 minutes, then i had the same problem.
i have gone through the help files, and they tell me that
if i go to control panel, game controllers, properties -
that i should have a tab there for calibration, but i
dont, i have 2 tabs, test and about, no calibration tab.
is there a way to remedy this for XP pro?
