Can you explain a bit more? Have you just installed a router or something?
Gateway is what it says basically... for your computer it's "Gateway" to the
rest of the network, in your case presumably the internet, is some other
machine through which it is linked.
DNS the Domain Name System changes some readable address like Microsoft.com
into a numerical address that can be located on the internet. If DNS is not
working then your machine cannot convert addresses so cannot find servers
unless you give it numeric addresses. For example
www.grc.com only exists in
a translation table somewhere... the machine is really
http://204.1.226.226
The Gateway problem (if there is one) is going to cause this or at least be
associated with it.
Your ISP should have given you some settings but if you don't have them
someone can maybe help if you provide details of:-
Dial up, Cable or DSL
Who is the ISP
Any changes you have made that stopped it working (if you can pin it down).
Which version of Windows
