Login time takes too long

Recently I upgraded from NT4 Terminal Server With citrix
metaframe 1.8 to Windows 2000 Server with citrix metaframe
1.8

Before the users would login in an application very
quickly, now windows 2000 takes too long to login with a
message stating "Applying your personal settings..."

Is there a way to avoid this? I mean, applying user's
personal settings should take a bit only on the first
login!

i had exactly the same problem and it was McAfee that
caused it. Logon was taking upto 20 minutes but once
McAfee disabled all returned to normal. Out server is used
as a pass through to speed up users access to other
servers. Data is not written to disc and internet not
accessed. I give this info because we can disable virus
checking without problem. You may not be able to

If you have a Win 2k domain as well.

Check your dns settings, if the primary DNS server is not the domain
controller/possibly a slave dc if its a muliple master domain (but i can
only say for certain that it has to be the DC as i havent used a multiple
master domain), then you can have that exact problem.
