Login scripts not executing on certain machines

S

Steven Parker

Hello.

We are running Windows 2003 server using login scripts specified in user
account settings. Logging into one machine, the scripts run fine. Logging
into another, they don't even try to launch at all. No event log errors on
DC or client.

Both machines are running Windows XP SP2, and both receive the same group
policy. They are in different OUs.

The machines were NOT built using the same image, but the same procedure was
supposedly followed for both.

Can anyone shed any light on this issue? I have googled the heck out of this
one.

Thanks

You already tried applying the following GP to the XP machines?

"Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon" in
"CompConf\Adm Vorl\System\Logon"?

cheers,

Florian: Thanks for the response... I just tried that and it had no
effect. We have also tried changing the "Allow processing across a slow
network connection " setting. Still no luck.

After having added these two policies: you tried to update the polcies
manually via "gpupdate /force"? You checked ip and dns configuration on
the clients? Do they match?

cheers,

We had a similar problem and the issue was cleared up by blowing away the
local profile of the user that was having the problem.

I also have the same problem with startup scripts fro windwos XP prof, but
here i have Windows 2000 server Domain Controller, so i don't see this option
in GP

"Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon" in
"CompConf\Adm Vorl\System\Logon"

Please let me know how to solve this issue. Because i need to push
Jinitiator to all my Windows XP professional machines by using GP, already i
pushed it to all my Windows 2000 professional, but i am not able to push it
to Windows XP.

Thanks
Dash
