Folder Redirection and Login Script problem

S

Steven Parker

We are running Windows 2003 server using login scripts specified in user
account settings. Logging into one machine, the scripts run fine. Logging
into another, they don't even try to launch at all. No event log errors on
DC or client.

If the user's "My Documents" folder is redirected to their home drive via
GPO, then the login script will not run on certain machines.

Both machines are running Windows XP SP2, and both receive the same group
policy. They are in different OUs.

The machines were NOT built using the same image, but the same procedure was
supposedly followed for both.

Can someone suggest anything to try on this?

Thanks

Hi

Run RSop.msc in logging mode in the machines that are having problems to
check which GPO are being applied.

Jorge, thanks for the info.. I looked at the RSOP and there wasn't anything
that appeared to be out of order.

We ran the Group Policy Management Console and found something on the PCs
which were having a problem. In the section that describes "Folder
Redirection" there was also a line item called "Scripts". That one was
MISSING on the two PCs that we are having the problem on.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance again!

Try gpupdate /force.

Do you have any Fw or Antivirus or any other product that prevents the
scripts from running?

Actually, we just solved it. It seems that if you redirect with the option
"Redirect to user's home drive" it doesn't work, but if you redirect it with
"Create a folder for each user under the root path" and point it to the home
drives, it works.

Don't know why this is. But it is working now. UGH. What a fun two weeks
figuring this out.

Thanks..

Steve
