my daughter was checking her hotmail from my windows xp account. now my name
on the login screen says I have 10 messages in her hotmail account (she has
deleted them, it still says that.)

I saw the post about downloading the windows powertoys and using the tweak
whatever and unchecking the box about email alerts but when i expanded login
i didn't see any such box.

can you help me get this alert off my login screen for good?

Thanks
Cheryl

She may have not have logged off properly OR tied her hotmail/Passport
account to your Windows account.

There's no "Unread Mail" sub-branch?

Are you using TweakUI v2.10.0.0 or higher (downloaded from Microsoft and
not a third-party site)? (Look under About for version info.)

Mike I get an error code on tweak download says it is not a valid win 32
application when i try to run it. If i go start, programs, powertoys, tweak
ui, and hit about it says 2.1 for windows xp. Then I go to log on, it says
keep ras connections, parse auto exec bat, show aspnet on welcome screen, and
boxes that say show Cheryl on log on screen and other family members who have
accounts. So there is no show unread mail on welcome screen there for me to
uncheck.

I do believe that her msn was tied to my account somehow ( i didn't do it on
purpose, don't know how it happened) and it should not be. I've logged in as
her and hit sign out, so i don't think that's the problem.

Now what?

In case of Tweak UI:-

Expand Logon>Click Unread mail>Uncheck the box against 'Show unread mail
on Welcome screen.' Click ok/apply.
