Login problems

Does somebody can tell me why I can access all of my computers in my LAN
using the ip address but I CANNOT doing it by typying the NAME of the PC ?

Crappy DNS setup.
Not even WINS.
No computer browsing?

In other words - something is not setup on your network correctly.

you try to acces in this way??
\\theipaddresshere ???
for example: \\172.15.28.212 or \\mydesktop ??
try this, and if your lan is only for your 2 computers try configure ONLY
the IP and SubNetMask
you don't need configure gateways and dns servers
