I bought a new Presario Compaq R3000 notebook. It has Windows XP Home
installed on it. When Windows start, I get the logon screen. Since I am the
only user of this computer, is there some way I can avoid getting this logon
screen?

Looking in the user accounts, I notice that there is an account called
ASP.net Machine A limited account. This does not show up on the logon
screen. What is this? Can I delete it?

Thanks

Kevin, for your first question:

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

For your second question, that account was created when the .Net
framework software was installed. Just ignore it.

Click Start, Run and enter CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 On the Users tab, click the name of the user that you want automatically logged on, then uncheck the box, users must enter a username and password. Click Apply. On the next dialog, enter the password for the account you choose earlier, if any.

The ASP.NET account is created when you installed the .NET Framework from Windows Update. Some report that its safe to remove, but it doesn't hurt anything to leave it.

It gets provided as part of the '.NET Framework' which is getting
installed by Windows update, against the next generation of support
languages, following Javascript and the like. Leave it be.
