Logging on after network change

My father uses his laptop on a business network where he
logs on with his user name and password under a domain.
He went away on holidays and changed the network settings
so he could play games with a friend. He said he has
changed it from "connecting to the net via a business
network" to "a local LAN" or something like that. It was
working fine but then he shut down the computer. On the
next reboot he was asked for his user name and password.
When he entered it, he was told it was wrong user name,
password or domain. The guest account has been disabled.
Is there anyway I can get past this problem? How can I
log on? Or do we just have to reformat?

He needs to talk to his network administrator, either to
re-register the machine on the work domain, or to obtain
a local account name / password. He should then refrain
from playing with the network settings.
