log report tool or log query tool

hello,
can anyone recommend either a tool or some way of writing a script that
can give me reports or queries from the event logs?

I've seen these types of tools for unix/linux boxes as well as oracle
databases but I haven't seen one for win2k server....

The eventcomb section has the tool you need. It combs event logs for
the events you want to search for.
