event log

Bobby

hi,

recently we had a weird reboot on one of our servers running win2k advanced
server. now every time i scroll down the "system log" i receive a message
stating that the event log is corrupt (around nov 26th timeframe). so it
only takes a few scrolls down and then i get that message. i've read up on
how i can go about renaming the log file and having a new one start but i am
actually interested in seeing the events of that day (nov 26th) as it is
critical. the problem i guess is somehow viewing the corrupt event log or
extracting the data from it, if at all possible. i just want to see it in
its entirety and see what went wrong that day as this server is working in
"half-ass" mode, pardon my french.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks in advance,

bobby

Hi Bobby,

Unfortunately, we seen Event Log corruption occur for several different
reasons. Have you already applied Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 Service
Pack 4 (SP4)? See the following article for more details
