Log on to the domain

I have evaluation version of windows 2003 server and I
just add my lap top to a domain yet when i rebooted and
tried to log in on the domain as administratot i am
getting the folloeing logon error: the system can not log
you on the domain because <domain name> is not available.
Any help appreaciated

this could be any one of a number of things. assuming you have confirmed connectivity between the machines, the problem may be dns name resolution. have you set up dns on the 2k3 machine? have you created a zone file for the ad domain? have you enabled dynamic updates for the zone file? assuming the answer to all is 'yes', the next thing to check is the laptop; what os is it running? if 2k+, make sure that on the advanced tab of the dns settings of the network connection that dns dynamic update is enabled. if so, then open a command prompt and type "ipconfig /flushdns" hit enter, then type "ipconfig /registerdns" and hit enter (do not use the quotes when running the commands). are you sure the laptop is properly joined to the domain (when you joined it, did you receive a message saying "welcome to the XXX domain"?). can you confirm that there is an account for this laptop in the ad domain?
