After user logs on, it immediately logs yuser out. This happens in safe

The Real Truth [MS MVP]

Download my new userinit fix from here http://www.ms-mvp.org/ this file
works for SP2 and SP3 only. READ the enclosed instructions. If you have SP1
do not use this file. If you need any other version then email me using the
link at the bottom of my webpage. Your issue is caused by a malware
infestation. Once fixed you will need to use my Remove-it software, it will
remove that malware from your system. Choose yes for all options when
prompted. Download it here http://www.ms-mvp.org/

I've had this happen numerous times, in fact just had it happen within
the last week! The cause, environment variables were looking for
drives/directories which did not exist. For example, in this last
instance environment variables were set to look for a drive/directory
'Y:\TEMP', which did not exist, hence logon-logoff. This happened
because the OS was transferred to another HDD which was not setup
exactly the same as the old.

In another instance (if recalled correctly), something happened to
pagefile.sys (swap file) and until that was fixed, logon-logoff.

A malware infestation can do the same, as well as other things! You
asked if this could be a 'leftover Netware server' issue. I think quite
likely it is. Apparently win logon needs SOMETHING logged on to a
specific network. How to resolve this (easily) is above my level of
knowledge.

Did you google for an answer? Might be a lot faster for an answer than
waiting for it here.

You can see if it is a Malware issue by running some software to
detect and deal with such things. You did not say if you have tried
that or not.

Download Malwarebytes free software, install it, update and run a full
scan.

If you can't get in the Internet, it may be challenging to install,
but probably not impossible.

That might just narrow your issues choice significantly (50% from what
you suggested).
