log in icons different

Hi,
I noticed when logging into a friends Dell xps that when at the Windows XP
log in it only has the appearance of the windows netware log in. I don't see
all the icons to choose to select which account to log into. Have to enter
user name and password. I just want to change it back for them to click a
user icon and enter a password..

I connect to a home network via lan connection.

in order to see the login users screen you must check the box that says user
must a password to log in. and use the welcome screen to display the logon
id's used on that pc.
