Locking up with opening file

Running XP Pro

When i am in an any microsoft application, and i want to open or save a file, the browser windows opens, and i click in the upper right (example: myDocuments) but i wish to save the file on the desktop. The entire system freezes for about 3-5 minutes.

Everytime you access the list of drives or places to save through a microsoft program the same thing occurs.

Any suggestions about how to fix

I am having the same problem only mine seems to get worse. I will let ya know if I can get it fixed.

No, but if someone has something new to report on this fix, I most
certainly would love to know.

I am running Windows XP on a newer AMD Athlon myself and have this
probelm ONLY with MS Office applications, and especially when printing
to my HP PSC AIO 1210v printer.

Thanks in advance, and sorry if this has been answered; I have been
scouring this newsgroup for an answer and have not seen anything yet. If
it HAS been answered, will someone please direct me to the location?
