I am writing my thesis and need to lock the first line of text on each page.
this is the page number format I have to use: Smith 2. this is right
justified. Is it possible to lock this on each page?

This text needs to be in the page header (and the page number will be a PAGE
field); see http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/HeaderFooter.htm.

You can place text in a header or footer causing it to be displayed on each
page of a given section of the document - essentially locking it.
