locked out of my computer (Windows 2000 Professional)

I cannot get any username/password combination to work.
In the login prompt after booting, I see my username, but
when I type in my password, or my previous password, the
system kicks me saying,

"The system could not log you on. Make sure your User
name and domain are correct, then type your password
again....."

Ironically, the domain window no longer appears so I
can't change the domain.

Sounds like you used to have a domain option? If so somehow you have joined
a workgroup and this machine is no longer part of the domain thus your
domain account will not work. If this is the case you will need a local user
account to login to this machine. If this is not the case let us know?!?!?

Ask your network administrator to re-register your machine
on the domain, or to give you a local account / password.
