Local Web Site vs Remote Web Site

I am having trouble with the local and remote web site naming. The Publish
Site and Remote Web Sites button were not clickable with all my pages. I
finally named by pages http://frontpage.tripod.com/username/ and it connected
to tripod and asked for my user name and password. Everything seemed to be
working fine until I clicked on Publish Site. Now I am encountering the
problem that the Local and Remote Web Sites cannot be named the same thing. I
saw another post where they said you can name the local anything you want. If
I name it anything I want then the Publish Site option is not available.
PLEASE PLEASE help!

The local "web" is just a folder on your hard drive, so yes, name it
whatever you like.
The remote web name is basically your URL.

So your local web might be c:\my dcuments\my webs\joebloggs.

Your remote web can be whatever your URL is eg www.billbloggs.com

But it sounds like you're working live on the site through frontpage and
trying to publish to the same location when in fact you don't need to
publish to the remote server when you're already working on it.

Your local site is whichever site (not page) you open in FP first
- either your site on your PC which you can rename to anything
(except a URL type name - like your live site)
- or your online hosted site at http://frontpage.tripod.com/username/
Your remote site is the site to which you want to publish
- any other FP site but the 1 you opened first
