I am trying to setup a VPN client application on my laptop
to access a VPN router at a small business. I got to the
point where I get an error saying that the "Remote Gateway
is not responding" and the help indicates that:
One thing you should check is to verify if QuickVPN client
is in the same subnet as the remote network. For example,
if your local network is on a 192.168.1.x subnet, the
remote network cannot be the same 192.168.1.x subnet.
I'm really not well versed on networks and have struggled
just to get the two different networks working. Below is
how I have the two networks (stripped down info).
---------------------------------------------
HOME network I have (PPP is on the modem):
DSL Modem...
IP Address: 192.168.0.1
Mask: 255.255.0.0
Router...
Static IP:
Internet IP Addr: 192.168.1.64
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Gateway 192.168.0.1
Static DNS 1: 192.168.0.1
Router IP
Local IP Address: 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
DHCP
Starting IP Address: 192.168.1.100
Ending IP Address: 192.168.1.199
Small Business Network (PPP on Router):
Router...
Local IP Address: 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
DHCP
Starting IP Address 192.168.1.101
Ending IP Address: 192.168.1.200
---------------------------------------------
Would one solution be to change my HOME router configuration
like the following (*** indicates change):
Static IP:
Internet IP Addr: 192.168.2.64 ***
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Gateway 192.168.0.1
Static DNS 1: 192.168.0.1
Router IP
Local IP Address: 192.168.2.1 ***
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0 ***
DHCP
Starting IP Address: 192.168.2.100 ***
Ending IP Address: 192.168.2.199 ***
Do I have to change anything else?
Thanks for anyone's assistance!!!
